Veterinary Information

Ferrets are considered exotic animals due to their complex anatomy and care needs. Not all vet clinics will be able to provide care for exotic animals. We encourage owners to familiarize themselves with their closest vet options in case of an emergency.

If you're a potential adopter, take advantage of our exotic vet clinic map at the bottom of this page. We recommend 'shopping' around for a clinic to get to know your options and find a clinic you truly trust. Ferrets are prone to many age-related diseases, because of those risks they require yearly vet visits. As obligate carnivores and natural predators, ferrets will hide pain symptoms very well. An annual visit can save your ferrets life.

Always call your clinic ahead of time and verify that they have an exotics vet on staff before making an appointment or going in for an emergency.
